Meljen's Designs Challenge # 37

This week at the Meljen's Designs challenge, the theme is Red, Green, and Gold.  This is my entry for their challenge.

I used the image Frosty Face which is a freebie and is available on the website.  The sentiment is another freebie.  I colored Frosty with alcohol markers (some Copic, some not.) Coloring something that is supposed to be black is not as easy as you would think, but I am happy with the way it turned out.  I used gold paper to mat the images.  Instead of using traditional red and green, I used Bravo Burgandy and Always Artichoke cardstock from Stampin' Up.  I embossed the Always Artichoke with my Cuttlebug using the Snow Dots folder.  I am not sure how I ever lived without a Cuttlebug!!  I used a QuicKutz die to make the gold border around the sentiment.  A little gold ribbon and some gold brads from my stash and the card is finished.

DeNami Design Product Challenge #5

The challenge at DeNami Design this time is to use punches on your project.

I hadn't gotten around to designing a Christmas card for this year, so I thought I had better get to it.

Keeping the theme of punches in mind, I chose my border punch from Fiskars.  I really don't have very many border punches to choose from.  Maybe Santa will take care of that for me. (It is hard to see in the picture, but it is just to the left of the sentiment and is the opening of the card.)  I used the DeNami Design Medium Curly Christmas Tree and the Upright Holiday Cheer sentiment.  I did a bit of distressing with Sahara Sand ink from Stampin' Up on both to soften them up a bit.  I used DeNami Design Sparklets Glitter on the star and the garland of the tree.  It is so easy to do with the Quickie Glue Pen!  I used Lemon Sorbet on the star and Blue Ice on the garland.  I cut the scalloped oval with my Cricut using the Lacy Labels cartridge.  It actually started life as a circle.  I embossed the front of the card using my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder.  A little ribbon from my stash and I finally have a Christmas card.  Now to finish the rest of them!!

Meljen's Designs Challenge #36

This week's challenge at Meljen's Designs is to make a card based on this sketch created by DT member Lauretta:

I have had an idea for a card rolling around in my head, and this sketch was a great layout to use.  I made the card below for my hubby.  He isn't much into embellishments or girlie things, so I had to restrain myself from adding too much.  The striped cardstock actually has glitter in the red stripes.  I hope he won't notice!!

All of the images are from Meljen's Designs.  I used the I Heart You Badge as the main image and added metal heart embellishments.  I colored it using Copic markers.  The hearts are a freebie called Stitched Country Heart and can be found on the website.  The sentiment is also from a freebie called Honey Bunches, but I cut the word "bunches" off and used it alone.

Thanks for looking!

Meljen's Designs Challenge #35

This is my entry for the Meljen's Designs challenge this week.  The theme is Buttons and Bows.  I used the image called Raggy Puppy and paper pieced it.  I am really pushing it to get this submitted on time!!

I used my Lacy Labels cartridge and cut the circle with my Cricut.  I used the Pinking Hearts border punch from Stampin' Up to make the border.  The paper was in a pack I bought ages ago.  I am not sure if I am going to add a sentiment or not.

Thanks for looking!

DeNami Design Sketch Challenge #5

The current challenge at DeNami Design is to follow the sketch created by Ayana shown below.

This is the card I created using the sketch.

I used the Single Pointsettia stamp from DeNami Design on the background.  I didn't want the stem, so I inked the flower first in red and stamped the background.  I then added the leaves in green.  I used the Santa Chickie for the bottom element and the Double Circle to frame it.  I don't have many border punches, so I took a little creative liberty with the sketch and used the word Christmas as my "scallop".  The letters were die cut using the Santa's Workshop alphabet from QuicKutz.  The word "merry" was cut using my cricut.  I have baker's twine envy, so I created some of my own using some crochet cotton in red and white that I twisted together.

Finally!

Last week I was so dissapointed when I missed the Meljen's Designs challenge.  I couldn't find my mojo and I forgot that the challenge actually closes at 10 pm my time.  I had colored an image for the challenge and everything!  I tried to put something together with 15 minutes to go, but just couldn't manage it.  This image is the one I colored for the food challenge last week.  I added some DeNami Design Sparklets glitter and a gold peel off sentiment and it is full of sparkle and shine for this week's challenge.  This image is called Cupcake Mouse and it can be found at Whimsy Stamps.

I used alcohol ink markers to color the image and used a white gel pen for accents.

This is a close up of the sparkle and shine detail on the card.

Denami Design Color Challenge #5

My entry for the color challenge at the DeNami Design Blog is in the second picture.  I missed entering the last challenge.  I guess I just couldn't get my head around making a Christmas card just yet.  I procrastinated, and the next thing you know the deadline had passed.  I did the blog hop today, so I was inspired to ink up some DeNami Design stamps and get creative.  I really liked the colors in the challenge, but I had a hard time deciding where I wanted to use them.  This is what I came up with.

(I realized after posting this, that one of the colors I used did not follow the challenge.  I looked at the color dots at the top of the challenge and didn't read the posted colors down below.  I have changed this card to follow the challenge colors.  See the second picture below.)

I am sorry about the quality of the photo.  Apparently my camera is tempermental.  I stamped the Decorative Flourish in VersaMark ink to create a background.  It kind of shows in the picture.

This card has all of the same elements (I just pulled them off of the other card =P), but I think the kraft gives it a completely different look!  You can also see the VersaMark Decorative Flourish much better on the kraft cardstock.

Card measures 5.5" x 4.25"

Chilly BunBun Fairy

While I love digital stamps, I am really a rubber stamper at heart.  (Althought it is sooo much easier to store digital stamps!)  So I was overjoyed to hear that Meljen's Designs was releasing brand new designs in rubber.  This image is one of them.  It can be purchased here at Whimsy Stamps.  I got my order on Friday and couldn't wait to ink them up.  I am using this card for the Meljen's Designs Challenge this week.  The theme is to use 3 shapes.  I have used a rectangle, triangles and hope that either the snowflake or the rhinestone (circle) satisfies the third shape.

The Paper Sundaes challenge this week just happens to be Let it Snow, so I am entering this card in that challenge as well.

I created the snowflake by crinkling a piece of aluminum foil and flattening it back out.  I ran a piece of cardstock vellum from Stampin' Up through my Xyron machine and laid it over the top of the aluminum foil.  Then I punched out the snowflake.  (Sorry about the quality of the picture.  Hopefully you get the idea.)

Dragon Birthday Card

This week at Paper Sundaes the challenge is to make a card for a man or boy (or anything in between...we all know man-boys =P) so this is the card I came up with.  I struggled with this card because everything I thought of to finish it was decidedly girly.  I asked my hubby what he thought of the finished product and he liked it.  So I think I managed to accomplish the challenge!  The image is from Doodle Dragon Studios by an artist named Dustin Pike.  Many of his images are great for cards for guys.  This one was a freebie that is available here

I am also entering this card at the Doodle Dragon Studio Challenge Blog because Anything Goes for their challenge this time.

The challenge at Wee Memories this week is Birthday Bash so I am entering my card there as well.

This is the first time I have used the Core'dinations cardstock that I bought ages ago at a stamp convention that comes to our area every summer.  I have to say that I really like the texture and effect that it gives.

Scooper Duper!

I created this card for the Meljen's Designs Challenge Blog.  This week Anything Goes!  I decided to use another image that I won in the recent blog hop.  This one is called Double Scoop and is available at Whimsy Stamps.  I love Meljen's Designs images and was excited to win 4 of them in the blog hop.  This is the only one I haven't used yet and I thought this challenge was the perfect time to do so.

Welcome Baby

Meljen's Designs is sponsoring the challenge at Paper Sundaes this week.  Their challenge is For Someone Little.  I love this image called Monkey Toes by Meljen's Designs.  A co-worker is expecting, so I thought I would use this challenge to get a head start on the baby shower!  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

At Wee Memories, the challenge this weeks is sponsored by Scor-Pal and the theme is Celebrate Good Times.  I am entering this card in their challenge as well.

Fall Tag

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs Challenge Blog is Tags.  I can't get enough of fall right now, so I created this fall tag.  I used the Meljen's Designs digi stamp Country Pumpkins and the Happy Fall is a freebie that is offered on the website.  I colored everything using alcohol markers and created dimension by using foam.

Here are a couple of close up pictures of the layers.

Meljen's Designs is also sponsoring the challenge at The Shabby Tea Room.  Their challenge is titled Chocolate Covered Autumn and has a delicious inspiration picture.  My tag fits their challenge so I am entering it there as well.

I hope you like it!  Thanks for looking.

Got Ribbon?

I created this card for the DeNami Design Product Challenge #4: Ribbon.

I used the Pumpkin Patch Border from DeNami Designs and cut out the pumpkins.  I glued 2 of the pumpkins onto a button for a little dimension, but you can't really tell that in the picture.  The card only measures 3.5 x 4.25.  Because of the size of the pumpkins, a smaller card worked better.  Thanks for looking.
