Over the Rainbow

DeNami Design is sponsoring the current challenge at Embellish Magazine's blog, so I decided to play along.  They have a beautiful inspiration photo for their rainbow colors challenge.

This is what I came up with for the challenge.

I stamped Flourish Tree from Rubbernecker Stamps and then added punched flowers in rainbow colors each with a matching rhinestone in the center.  I colored clear rhinestones with alcohol markers to get the colors I wanted for the flowers.  I used a sentiment stamp from Studio G and a Spectrum Kaleidacolor stamp pad from Tsukineko.  I added some black twine to finish it off.

Darling Donkey

This week the challenge at Meljen's Designs is to use plaid and/or stripes on your project.  I wanted to try to use both and it was a challenge for sure.  The plaid was really easy.  I just knew the Sweet Little Donkey would be adorable paper pieced in plaid.  Finding the right stripe paper was the real challenge.

The card ended up being monochromatic, but I didn't plan that!  I cut the oval using my cricut and the Lacy Labels cartridge.  It actually started out as a circle, but I altered it to make an oval.  I added some doodling and some pearls and popped the oval up with some leftover stamp foam.  I originally had it flat on the card and it didn't stand out at all.  It is amazing what one minor change can make to the overall design!

Red White and Blue v2.0

After missing out on playing at Pike's Playground last week, I was determined to be sure to play this week.  The theme at the playground is also red, white and blue!  This is my project for the challenge.

The image was colored using crayons blended with baby oil.  I decided to give it a try for my last project and really like the way the crayons blend.  The border was made using the  Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles #3 (#1 being the smallest) and I pieced the long sides to fit my border.

Red, White and Blue

The challenge for Meljen's Designs this week is to use the colors red, white and blue in your project.  As I looked through my Meljen's Designs images to try to decide which one to use, Raggy Jane's Trinkets jumped out at me. I loved the idea of coloring her with the challenge colors.  She is available in the Meljen's Designs corner of the Whimsy Stamps store.

I colored the image using crayons blended with baby oil.  Yep...that's right...crayons.  Since the baby oil works with wax based colored pencils, I thought I would give crayons a try.  You can't get any more wax based than that!!  I like how it turned out.  The gingham paper was a freebie digital download from Activity Village.  It comes in 24 colors.

DeNami Design Color Challenge

The challenge this time at the DeNami Design Blog is a color challenge.  The talented Andrea chose the color palette.

I really enjoyed working with these colors.  This is what I came up with.

I created the background by spritzing my Birds & Swirls embossing folder with Lavendar Fields and Blue Skies Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  I carefully laid a piece of white cardstock in the folder and embossed it.  I matted the background with Concord Crush and Early Espresso cardstock.  I die cut a piece of white cardstock with Spellbinders Labels 1 #2 (#1 is smallest) and embossed it.  Before I popped out the cardstock I stamped the Large Flower Spray from DeNami Design using the die as a mask.  I sponged Crumb Cake ink from Stampin' Up around the edge of the die cut and then matted the image using a Concord Crush mat cut with Spellbinders Labels 1 #3.  I added tiny pearls to the center of each flower.

Pink and Pearls

The challenge over at Meljen's Designs is to use pink and pearls.  This is my card for the challenge.

I used the image Daisy Butterflies which can be found at Whimsy Stamps.  I colored the image using colored pencils blended with baby oil.  I sponged the edges of the cardstock and patterned paper with some Tea Stain ink from Stampin' Up.  It came in the distressing kit and I love it for warming up papers and images.  The pearl ribbon trim was some that I had left after making my sister's wedding bouquets.

Bear Waving

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is Coastal Fun.  This is my card for the challenge.

I used a new image called Sail Away Sailor.  I was free over Memorial Day Weekend, but now you can find it here in the Whimsy Stamps store.  I colored the image using colored pencils blended with baby oil.  The steam curl stamp on the background and the sentiment are both from DeNami Design.
