Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella-ProMarker Competition

Enfys at Going Buggy is hosting a ProMarker competitionLetraset, the maker of ProMarkers, is looking to create sample boards for display at craft shows.  One of the boards is to be made up of customer cards!  How amazing to think your card is on display for everyone to see.  This is my card for consideration:

I used a freebie Meljen's Designs image called Shower of Love.  I colored it using the following ProMarker colors:

Umbrella:  Arctic Blue, Cobalt Blue (Cobalt Blue was used very sparingly for some shadowing)
Rosy Cheeks:  Fuchsia Pink
Handle: Soft Peach & Sunkissed Pink
Hearts: Pale Pink & Fuchsia Pink
I also used the blender pen to pull off just a bit of the color on the top of the umbrella.

I added some design paper, ribbon and rhinestones from my stash to finish it off.

Thank you for visiting and looking at my entry.

Happy Birthday!

I was in need of a card for a co-worker and how nice that the challenge at Meljen's Designs is to create a birthday card.  For the challenge, the project must include a birthday sentiment.

For this card I used the Paper Craft Planet 100 member freebie.  I cut off the "Thank You" sentiment from the top of the image.  The sentiment was a recent freebie and can be found here on the blog.  I colored the image with alcohol ink markers.

I stamped a flower image to create a background on the top part of the card and used patterned paper for the bottom.  I mounted the image on spare foam leftover from trimming my rubber stamps.  That extra foam makes great dimensional dots! I added a flocked brad and ribbon from my stash.

Letraset ProMarker Giveaway!

Letraset is introducing ProMarker blending sets.  These marker sets have 6 pairs of colors chosen specifically to blend beautifully.  They are giving one lucky person one of each of the 3 sets.  That is 36 ProMarkers!  To enter, you just have to give them a list of your favorite blending colors.  Unfortunately, I only have 12 ProMarkers.  Only two of those colors blend well together.  Those are Soft Peach & Sunkissed Pink.

If you  have never tried ProMarkers, they are a cost-effective way of increasing your alcohol ink marker range.  They color beautifully and have a narrow tip and a chisel tip.  Their colors complement colors you may already have in your stash so no worries there!

Tag Challenge

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is to create a gift tag.  This didn't turn out quite the way I envisioned it, but I think I am happy with it.

The image is called Sunny Day Flower and can be found here at Whimsy Stamps.  The sentiment is cut using QuicKutz alphabet dies.  I used the Lifestyle Crafts (formerly QuicKutz) Nesting Pennants, Nesting Scallops, and Nesting circles to cut all of the elements.  I added an American Crafts pearl brad and a paper flower to finish it off.

Happiness

The current challenge at the DeNami Design blog is to use twine on your project.  This is such a hot product right now, but I still haven't gotten around to actually buying any ( I know...shock and horror!).  So I have made my card using faux twine.

I used the DeNami Design N100 Heart Garland stamp.  I colored the hearts and cut them out to string them on my "twine".  I hung my garland from a couple of buttons and added a sentiment using a Hampton Art Studio G stamp.  A little embossing and a border punch finishes it all off.

Fun Fold Birthday Cake

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is Fun Folds.  I knew what I wanted to try right away, but as always I seem to be squeaking this entry in at the last possible minute!  But here it is.

I am sure you are saying to yourself  "Self...there are no folds on this card!"  And I would say that you are correct.  Because the folds are IN the card!  I used a pattern I got ages ago for an explosion card.  I have never actually tried it until now.

This is what the folds inside the card look like when partially opened.  Then when you open it completely, the folds explode out of the card.

I used the image Topsy Turvy Cake for the front of the card and colored it with alcohol ink markers and a silver gel pen.  You can get it here at Whimsy Stamps.  I used the freebie image Happy Birthday which you can get on the website.  Just click on the link to the freebie pack on the left side of the blog.

The instructions for making an explosion card are below.  If you would like them, click the picture then right click and "Save As".

Be Mine

This is my card for the Meljen Designs challenge Put Your Heart on It.  The challenge is to put a heart on your project.

I used the freebie from Monday called Little Winged Heart.  You can get it from the website.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I glittered a heart button and used some ribbon from my stash to finish it up.  The square doily is from a package I bought from Stampin' Up more years ago than I can count!
