Got to Have Bling!

The current challenge at DeNami Design is to use rhinestones on your project.  This is a product that I never really used until recently.  I really like the sparkle that they add.

I had to try 3 times to get this card right.  All three attempts were completely different!  But this is the one that I really liked.

I stamped the Butterfly Daisy Circle and cut it out with a Lifestyle Crafts cookie cutter die.  I colored the image with Stampin' Up markers in So Saffron and Orchid Opulence.  I used Crystal Lacquer to add Lavendar Frost Sparklets glitter to the butterflies.  I cut a strip of lavender cardstock and punched it with the Floral Lace punch from Martha Stewart.  I added rhinestones to the center of the flowers and added a piece of rick rack down the center.

I used a piece of lace trim and shaped it into a circle and glued it to the back of the image.  I use a piece of extra foam from trimming stamps to attach it to the card.

I am happy with the way this card turned out.  Maybe what they say is true...the third time's the charm!

Punches and Bingo

The challenge this week at Meljen's Design was to use punches on your project.  My inspiration came from My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose Mabel Papers.

In the end, I only used one small piece out of the paper stack.

The image is from Meljen's Designs and is called Little Girl Bear Hugs.  You can find the image at the Whimsy Stamps store.  I created the background by spraying Tattered Angels Glimmer mist in Patina, Tuscan Sun and Latte on a piece of white cardstock.  I punched around the edge with Martha Stewart's Eyelet Lace punch around the page set.  I created the flowers using more glimmer mist cardstock and the Boho Blossom punch from Stampin Up'.  The leaves were punched using a Marvy flower punch.  It is hard to capture the sparkle and glimmer of the glimmer mist, so I took a close up of one of the flowers.

The challenge this week at The Shabby Tea Room is to play bingo with your project.

You have to use any three elements in a row in any direction.  If you use all 9, you are entered into a drawing for some shabby seam binding.  I managed 5, but just couldn't get all 9!  My rows are gems-glitter/glimmer/ribbon and gems/flowers/punch/diecuts.

Color Inspiration!

This week's challenge at The Play Date Cafe, brings another gorgeous inspiration photo.  This week's inspiration colors were chosen by Senior Designer, Ruby 2 Shoes.

When I saw this picture, I immediately thought of a Meljen's Design image that I won in a recent hop and haven't had a chance to use.  The image is called Love Sprouts and you can find it at the Whimsy Stamps store.

I created the background panel with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Frost and Patina.  I used frost first and it was much darker than I thought it would be, so I sprayed Patina over the top of it.  I used Stampin' Up Orchid Opulence ink to sponge over the top of the glimmer mist once it was dry.  It has so much sparkle and shine!

I used the Retro Squares embossing folder by QuicKutz to lightly emboss the background.  (The QuicKutz folder needs a shim when I use it in the Cuttlebug.  I just left the shim out.) I thought it looked a lot like the windows in the door!

I colored the image with Stampin' Up markers and cut it out.  I left the stems free to add dimension to the card.  I used both turquoise and lavender sheer ribbon to create the bow.

The challenge this week at Wee Memories is Anything Goes.  I am entering this card in that challenge as well.

Feeling Dotty!

The challenge this week at Meljen's Design is to use dots on your project.  I knew I wanted to use the image Raggy Puppy because I thought he would look adorable paper pieced with dots!  You can find him at the Whimsy Stamps website.

I embossed the white strip using my Cuttlebug and the Swiss Dots folder.  I used the Teeny Swiss Dot from DeNami Design to stamp the background.  A lace bow and baby charm finish off the card.  A simple card, I know, but my mojo has taken a walk this evening.

The challenge at Wee Memories this week is Cute and Cuddly so I am entering my card there as well.

Friend

DeNami Design is sponsoring the challenge at The Play Date Cafe this week.  I hadn't played in their challenge before, so I thought I would take a look.  They had an awesome inspiration board of colors created by their senior design team member, Julie Ranae.  Once I saw those colors, I just had to play along!

Here is my card using the inspiration colors.

I couldn't get the center sentiment to show in the picture, so I took a close up of it.

I used the DeNami Design Decorative Flourish stamp to create my background using VersaMark ink.  I embossed a piece of Stampin' Up vanilla cardstock and wrapped it with some twine.  The friend sentiment was created by running a strip of paper through a Dymo label maker.  I added some handmade crocheted flowers with dew drop centers.

I plan on visiting The Play Date Cafe blog again!

Hang in There!

I am playing at Pike's Playground again this week on Dustin Pike's blog.  The challenge theme is Spring Showers.  Pretty appropriate since it is going to rain here all week.

As soon as I saw this image, I knew I wanted to use it.  I colored it using alcohol ink markers.  I embossed the panel behind it and applied some crystal affects to a few of the embossed bubbles.  You can't really see it in the picture, but there is an embossed frame around the panel as well.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Polka Doodles Challenge

I thought I would play along with one of the Polka Doodles challenges going on right now.  The challenge is to use black and white and one other color.

I chose the Decorative Crest from DeNami Design for my focal image.  I used a glue pad to stamp the image and covered it in black glitter.  I chose Kiwi Kiss from Stampin' Up as my pop of color.

Shamrocks

This week at Meljen's Designs the challenge is to use green on your card.  Well I think I went a bit green crazy.  What do you think?

I created the large shamrock by printing 3 copies of the Stitched Country Heart freebie.  I colored them and layered them to create the shamrock.  I resized the heart just a little bit because it is tall and thin and I wanted the "leaves" to be a bit fatter.  I used the large rhinestone to cover the overlapping points.  The shamrock embellishments were created from the sentiment which is another freebie available here.  I enlarged them, colored them with alcohol ink markers and cut them out to layer on the card.  That is one definite advantage to digital stamps!!

The challenge this week at Wee Memories is also to use green so I am entering this card in that challenge as well.

Rosebud Trio

The current challenge on the DeNami Design blog is a sketch challenge created by their super talented Design Team member, Michele.

And this is my interpretation of the sketch.

I stamped DeNami Design's Rosebud Trio and glittered the outlines of the rosebuds, stems and leaves with Sparklets glitter in Strawberry Freeze.  I cut a scalloped oval and covered it in sparklets glitter.  I created 3 layers with design paper matted with white cardstock.  The second layer has the mini polka dot stamp glittered with Sparklets glitter.  I used some lace trim, rickrack and ribbon to create the three layers at the bottom.  I added some Robin's Nest dewdrops to the rickrack layer.

Playing at Pike's Playground

The Doodle Dragon Studios challenges are back and the theme for the current challenge is Spring is in the Air.  I certainly could use a whiff of spring!

I used one of Dustin's images that made me think spring and I used soft spring colors for the card.  I colored the image using alcohol ink markers and layered it on the Spellbinders Lotus die.  The image is popped up using some extra foam left over from assembling stamps.  I used a Viva Decor pearl pen to accent the die cut.  I used a Stampin' Up flower brad to accent the bow and cut the mini tag using a QuicKutz die.

I keep thinking it still needs something.  Maybe I will figure out what it is later.

DeNami Color Challenge

The current challenge at the DeNami Design Blog is to use lime, navy and white to create a card.

Their awesome design team member, Lisa, came up with this color challenge.  Here is the card I came up with for this challenge.

I stamped the D87 Steam Curl in a pattern on the lime cardstock using a glue pad and used the Lime Sherbet Sparklets Glitter.  I stamped the C72 Chickie w/Flower stamp and framed it using the I56 Medium Double Line Square.  I added a little bit of color by using a Stampin' Up blending pen with Night of Navy and Green Galore ink.
