Spooky CAS

This week at Creative Knockouts the theme is one of my personal challenges...CAS or clean and simple.  I manage to do a CAS card occasionally, but when it is required, I find myself struggling.  This time, it wasn't quite as much of a struggle though.  The biggest struggle was trying to figure out where I put the cheesecloth!

I used the mummy from the Halloween Candy Corn set from Oddball Art and colored it with Copic markers.  The set also has a Frankenstein and vampire candy corn.  You can see the others over at the blog or in the shop.  I sprayed a bit of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in marshmallow and scarlet on some black card stock and stamped my sentiment directly on the card.  I am not sure if this counts as CAS, but it is really CAS for me!

You have a chance to win 3 images from Oddball Art for playing along.  Click the badge below to check out the Halloween Candy Corn and everything else in the shop.

Believe in Forever

Hey Rubbernecker fans!  It is my turn to solo over on the Rubbernecker Stamps blog.  This is the project I have for you today.

I was digging through all of the stamps I have collected and found this Wild Garden Border 2 stamp.  I thought it would be awesome as a black silhouette but needed the perfect background.  I started digging through my paper stash and found this scrap of card stock I previously attacked with Tattered Angels Glimmer mist.  I used Patina, Tuscan Sun and Scarlet.  It has a ton of wonderful shimmer in person.  The sentiment is Believe in Forever and I love that it is a quote from Winnie the Pooh.  He is my favorite and the whole reason I bought this stamp ages ago.

If you didn't pop over from the blog, go check it out.  My teamies are featured each day and we have a team post each Sunday.  All of the projects are drool-worthy so you won't be disappointed when you pop over.

And some exciting news!  Rubbernecker Stamps has also started a challenge.  You have a chance to win some Rubbernecker cash to have a crafty spend in the shop.  The first challenge is birthday.  There are some rules though.  Your project must have a stamped image.  Digi just won't do.  You can use any company but if you use a Rubbernecker stamp, you can enter up to three times!  I am a little jealous!  My wish list is really long!  There are a few other rules so make sure you read them when pop on over and join in the fun.

Dance Like No One Is Watching

Hello, Everyone!  It is my turn to provide some inspiration on the MoonFlower Digital Stamps blog.  I tried my hand at a little mixed media this week.  Still trying to decide how I feel about it.  Mixed media just doesn't flow for me like other forms of crafting.

I used Gigi Bellydancer to create this mixed media piece.  I put down a coat of acrylic paint to lessen the texture of the canvas.  On top of that, I put a layer of watercolor paint in a blue green color.  I had to mix the color myself, and it took me a while to get it right!  Once the paint was dry, I used texture paste and a stencil to create my background texture.  I also embossed a piece of chipboard with a music note embossing folder.  I was just going to put chunks of it on, but I didn't like the edges, so I cut out selected notes instead.

Once the paste was dry, I sprayed the whole piece with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  It adds color and some wonderful shimmer.  Then I used some Viva Decor metallic paint and a flat brush and just hit the highlights of the stenciling and the notes.  The sentiment was computer generated and cut to fit the piece.

Gigi Bellydancer was colored with Copics and cut out using my Silhouette Cameo.  She has a little Wink of Stella in gold so she has some shimmer as well.  A few flowers and buttons finish the piece.

Shabby Chic Is My Kryptonite!

So it is time for another challenge at Meljen's Designs.  The theme this week is shabby chic.  For some reason I struggle with shabby chic almost as much as I struggle with masculine cards  There is something about the style that I just can't get my head around!  I even had to do a search on shabby chic cards just to get a good idea of what I wanted to do.

I used Peaceful Heart Quilt Square and used some ink to distress it after coloring the heart with Copics.  It is popped up slightly from the die and the die is popped up from the back of the card.  I made the distressed looking flowers.  Can you guess what I made them out of?!  Nope!  A used dryer sheet!  Yes indeed, a used dryer sheet spritzed with Tattered Angels glimmer mist.  I am pretty happy with the way they turned out.  I made the "hat pin" on the right as well as the tassel.  All in all...my kryptonite didn't hurt me too badly, I think. =)
