Up for a Challenge?

It is challenge time again at Meljen's Designs.  This week we have a great sketch for you to play with created by our teamie Dianna.

I used one of the images from the March release called Sweet Sundae.  Isn't it adorable?

I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil.  The sentiment is a Meljen's Designs digi as well called A Spoon Full of Friendship.

Come join us this week for our sketch challenge.  You have a chance to win up to three images from the shop!  And trust me, it will be hard to pick three!

Card measures 4.25" x 5.5"

Sketch Challenge & Going Buggy

It's time for a sketch challenge at DeNami Design.  The very talented Paulina came up with this sketch for us to play with.

I flipped the sketch around a little.

I used one of the flowers from the Ornamental Flowers set and I used Fancy Butterfly.  Fancy Butterfly is an  older stamp, but I find myself pulling it out again and again.  I heat embossed the butterfly in gold and cut it out.  I replaced the stamped antennae with wire.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!.  I need to invest in some more DeNami Design sentiments.  I love the font, but there are always so many other stamps that I want that I can't seem to get the sentiments into my cart!

The challenge at Going Buggy this month is to use lace and butterflies.  I am entering this card in that challenge as well.

Feeling Sketchy!

The challenge at Pike's Playground is to use the sketch provided.

This is my version of the sketch.

I stayed pretty true to the sketch which is pretty unusual for me.  I colored the image using Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil.

DeNami Design Sketch Challenge

The challenge this month at DeNami Design is a sketch created by Amber, one of the very talented design team members at DeNami Design.

I kept the layout the same, but I used a square card instead.

You may recognize the stamping on this card.  When I created my project for the Anything but a Card Blog Hop, I wanted to give the technique a try before I created my project.  This is one of the practice pieces.  I thought it was too pretty to toss, so I made it into a card.  For more details on how to create the look, see the original post.  I used two stamps: Decorative Flourish, Mini Solid Flower that you can currently buy from DeNami Design, and two retired stamps.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up! (Whimsical Words).

Card measures  4.5" x 4.25"
pearl trim from my stash
Recollections adhesive pearls
Spellbinders Labels 18
Clear embossing powder

Little Frankie

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is a sketch created by design team member, Dianna.

I love Halloween and Meljen's Designs has some amazing Halloween images.  You can find them in the shop here.

I used Little Frankie and colored him with Prismacolor pencils.  I enlarged the bat from the image to make the embellishments.  I also used the Spooky freebie that Melissa gave us recently.  I added google eyes to the "o's" and a rhinestone to the spider in the sentiment.  The background paper is a freebie I downloaded but I have no idea from where!

Card measures 5.5" 4.25"

Sweetest Ever!

This month the challenge at DeNami Design is a sketch created by the one and only Nami!

DeNami has changed from having 2 challenges a month to only one each month. I have discovered this causes some extreme procrastination! I made myself sit down and make this card before I had to skid in by the seat of my pants again.

I turned the sketch on it's side and used N133 Polka Dot Background for a tone on tone design.  I used K55 Ice Cream Cone and colored two of the scoops, the cone, and the cherry using Copics.  The other three scoops are pieced using the foil wrapper from a piece of chocolate.  I stamped the image on the foil using StazOn and cut out each of the scoops I wanted to use then glued them to the original stamped image.

Here is a close up of the foil scoops.

Mouse with Flower

The challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is a sketch challenge with a layout created by talented design team member, Dianna.

Here is my card for the challenge.

I used the Paper Craft Planet 400 member freebie image.  The group has over 1000 members now and there is a freebie at each 100 member mark!  Come join the group at Paper Craft Planet!  I colored this image a while ago, but I think I used colored pencils blended with a colored pencil blender from Artist's Loft.  It looks like a brush marker and has blending solution in it.  I bought it before I started using the baby oil, which I like much better.

Birthday Bunny

This week at Meljen's Designs the challenge is to use the sketch created by design team member, Dianna.  I ran out of time last week, so I had to make sure to play this week!

My sister's birthday is tomorrow, so I decided to use the sketch to create her birthday card.

I used the image Cuddle Bun Birthday and colored it with colored pencils and blended them with baby oil.  You can find the image at Whimsy Stamps.  The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up Sale-a-Bration set So Happy for You.

Card measures 5.5" x 4.25"

Flower Trio

Whew!  Now that Blogger has returned to normal and my posts have returned from cyberspace, I can post my entry for the DeNami Design sketch challenge.  I posted it through Flickr, but didn't post all of the details.  The sketch was created by Wendy, one of the fabulous design team members.

When I created my card, I decided to flip the sketch upside down.

I used the Large Flower Spray and the "hello" stamp from the Assorted Greetings set.  I stamped the flower spray in VersaMark ink and embossed them with Stampin' Up Winter White embossing powder.  The diecut is actually from one of the Stampin' Up label dies, and was given to me by a friend.  I used a white Signo gel pen to create the stitching on the perforation created by cutting the die.  The brad on the bow is also from Stampin' Up.  There are small rhinestones in the center of each of the flowers, but they are really hard to see in the picture.  I also added a bit of detail to the flowers after I colored them with the white gel pen.

Meljen's Designs Challenge #52

This challenge this week at Meljen's Designs is a sketch for us to follow that was created by design team member, Dianna.

Dianna allowed for flipping the sketch as desired.  This is my take on the sketch:

This image is from the new realease this week and is called, Victorian Shoe Daisies.  All of the images this week had a vintage feel to them.  They were so wonderful!  You can buy this image at the Whimsy Stamp store.

I colored the image using copics for the boot and prismacolor pencils for the heel and toe.  This is my first time using the pencils, and I have a lot to learn!  I added pearls to the buttons on the boot using a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in cream.  I used the Tea Stain ink pad from the Stampin' Up distressing kit to age the paper.  I crocheted the flower using the pattern I found here.

Card measures 5" x 7"

Rosebud Trio

The current challenge on the DeNami Design blog is a sketch challenge created by their super talented Design Team member, Michele.

And this is my interpretation of the sketch.

I stamped DeNami Design's Rosebud Trio and glittered the outlines of the rosebuds, stems and leaves with Sparklets glitter in Strawberry Freeze.  I cut a scalloped oval and covered it in sparklets glitter.  I created 3 layers with design paper matted with white cardstock.  The second layer has the mini polka dot stamp glittered with Sparklets glitter.  I used some lace trim, rickrack and ribbon to create the three layers at the bottom.  I added some Robin's Nest dewdrops to the rickrack layer.

Card measures 6" x 4.5"
Cricut cartridge-Mini Monograms (scalloped oval that started as a circle tag)

Black Cheep

The current challenge at DeNami Design is to create a card based on this sketch.  The sketch was created by their awesome design team member, Laurie.

This is my interpretation of the sketch.

I didn't put a sentiment on this card, because I am waiting for some inspired idea to pop into my head!  But since my head is a bit stuffy, it may take a bit of time!  I used the B90 Chickie and used Sparkly Fluff from Our Craft Lounge on the black chickie.  I colored the others using the So Saffron Stampin' Write marker.  I also used the N133 Polka Dot Background.  I embossed the small square with my Cuttlebug using the Birds and Swirls folder.  I grabbed some brads and ribbon from my stash to finish it up.  Now to find the perfect black cheep to send it to!
