Getting Springy

It was my turn to post on the Meljen's Designs blog this month.  I am excited by the return of sunshine and warmer weather, so I thought I would post a spring project.

The colors and patterns were inspired by the current Card Makin Mamas photo challenge.

When I saw this picture, I just had to play along!  I decided to step out of my comfort zone and mix patterned paper.  Still not sure how I feel about it!  I used Little Round Flowers from Meljen's Designs and paper pieced the image.  I also popped several layers up on dimensional foam.  The base image was closely cropped with a die so that parts of the image would extend when pieced.  I like how the piecing turned out at least!

And since the card fits into the spring theme over at the Blitsy Linky party, I am going to post it there too!

Let's Hear it for the Girls!

I am so excited by the challenge this week at Meljen's Designs.  The challenge is to create a girly card!  Easy peasy!  I got out all of my favorite embellishments and went to town!

I used Tiger Butterfly and colored it with some soft, girly Copic colors.  Then I layered on flowers, ribbon, trim and gems.  I am not sure it is girly enough!  What do you think?!

I am going to add this to the Blitsy Linky Party happening now.  Fingers crossed for some Blitsy credit!  Love that website!

Lucky Dog!

This week our challenge at Meljen's Designs is to use green on your project.  I just had to use this new image, Lucky Dog!

I used Copics to color the image and a sketch I got from Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine.

I used the Fair Isle Pendants from Spellbinders to frame the image.  I cut out the shamrock so it would emerge from the edge.  The sketch made this card quick and easy to complete.

Buttons, Buttons Everywhere!

If you are looking for the blog hop, click here to view my project.  Make sure to leave your comment on that post to win Little Bird's song.

Meljen's Designs is sponsoring the Creative Corner Challenge Blog this week and a couple of us on the team got the chance to provide some additional inspiration.  The theme for the challenge is buttons.  So I pulled out a package of buttons I just bought and started sifting through.  How lucky was I to find three that matched!

I used the precolored Loving Ewe image.  It was already printed and was in my bits and pieces box just waiting to be put on a card.  It also comes in a black and white version.  The sentiment is also from Meljen's Designs.  I added a heart button just in case I didn't have enough on the card! =P

For those of you new to Meljen's Designs, you should check out all of the wonderful images in the shop!  There are a couple of freebies that you can use to join us in our challenges.  And right now we have our 200th challenge blog hop celebration happening!  Just pop on over to the challenge blog to start your hop.  Leave a comment on each blog for a chance to win the digital image used on that blog!

Celebration Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to your next stop on the Meljen's Designs Celebration Blog Hop!  If you have been following along, you know that we are celebrating our 200th challenge!  Isn't that fabby?!

I am so glad you decided to celebrate with us!  All of the design team members have created a project with a celebration theme.  The best part about this celebration is you get the presents!  Each stop along the hop will give you a chance to win the image used on that blog!  Just make sure to leave a comment and an email so you can be contacted if you are the winner.  Believe me, there is nothing worse than not being able to contact a winner!  And as always, there is always the chance to win three images if you enter our challenge which of course has a celebration theme this week. =)

You should have come here from Nancy's blog.  Isn't her project wonderful?  I definitely think it is time to celebrate spring at this point in the winter!  If you just popped by and would like to start from the beginning, or if you have gotten lost along the way, just click the blog hop banner above to go back to the challenge blog.

For my project today I spruced up an old cigar tin that my husband gave me after emptying it.  I plan to use it as a gift card holder in the future.  I am not sure how I feel about cigars, but I end up with a lot of great boxes and tins to have fun with!

I really liked that the tin was gold.  Usually the tins are silver.  But those crazy pirates had to go!!

I used Little Bird's Song and colored it with Copics.  I nearly had a panic attack when I realized that I had put all of the elements on the lid upside down!  The box opened the wrong way!  Luckily, I was able to remove everything and fix it.  Those darn pirates were playing tricks on me.

The inside of the lid had the same picture as the cover so those pirates had to go too!

I left the sentiment oval blank because I am not sure what occasion this tin will be used for.  I will add the appropriate sentiment later.

Okay!  Now it is time for you to hop on to the next blog for even more tasty inspiration!  Next up on the blog tour is Robbie and I just know she has something wonderful cooked up for you!  Before you go, be sure to leave me a comment and include your email address.  You just might win your very own copy of Little Bird's Song!  All of the winners will be announced on Monday, March 17th.
